Domestic Violence and Social Distancing  

Domestic violence is one of the most under-reported crimes in the US. The reasons for this include fear, inability to access resources, not knowing what resources are available, self-blame, lack of self-sustainability, and more. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office recognizes the various challenges a victim may face and employs a special unit designated to fighting domestic violence in our community. 

Here are some things to consider: 

Whichever option the victim chooses, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office supports their decision, and we stand ready to respond should they elect to call us. No one should have to live in fear or be forced to endure physical, emotional, or economic abuse at any time.
