The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is an accredited agency through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., (CALEA) and the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office was initially accredited through CALEA on March 16, 1991.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office has achieved accreditation/re-accreditation as follows:
- CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.) Initially Accredited 3-16-91, Re-accredited 3-16-96, 3-16-99, 3-16-02,3-16-05 withdrew (due to Hurricane Charley), 11-19-05 Second Initial, 11-19-08, 3-24-12, 3-24-15 and 3-24-18
- CALEA Public Safety Communications Accreditation Initially Accredited 2015, Re-accredited 2018
- FCAC (Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission, Inc.) Initially Accredited with FCAC 2004, Re-accredited 2007, 2010, 2013,2016 and 2019
- PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) Successfully completed the PREA Audit 2015, 2017
