International Overdose Awareness Day

Charlotte County, FL-

International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held on 31 August each year that aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of drug-related death. Here in Charlotte County, we have seen a rise in the number of individuals who have experienced an overdose. Some of these overdoses have unfortunately resulted in death.

CCSO aims to eliminate overdoses locally through the Sheriff’s Drug Recovery Initiative. Those who suffer from addiction and are seeking help, can be provided not only the necessary treatment, but is provided free of charge. This program is designed to eliminate the number of overdoses in our community and to provide treatment to those who may believe they have no way out.

Through programs and raising community awareness, we hope to make an impact in our community.

We understand that addiction is a disease. We are here to help.

For more information on Overdose signs, please read the article written by Kelly Decker, MA, LMHC who acts as our Mental Health Clinician within the Mental Health Unit, viewable here.
