Earlier this evening, shortly prior to 8 pm, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service in the 4000 Block of Taylor Road, Punta Gorda. The incident reportedly was domestic related and involved the use of a firearm. The incident resulted in the death of one person, with the assailant ultimately being arrested a short distance from the scene.
The investigation is extremely fluid at this time. Charlotte County Sheriff’s Investigators are still on-scene. There will be no further details released until later today when they become available. This is an isolated incident and there is no further threat to the public.
