February 10, 2026 – Punta Gorda, FL
Two individuals have been convicted on separate drug related cases, with one resulting in a death from the sale of fentanyl.
On February 4, 2026, Scott Kyle Wright (10/27/1985) was convicted on charges for his involvement in a drug overdose where fentanyl was distributed to the victim, subsequently causing their death. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit investigated the incident and worked alongside the State Attorney’s Office throughout the investigation.
Once the investigation was completed the case was presented to a grand jury and Wright was indicted on the charges of Manslaughter and Manufacturing Schedule I or II Opium or Derivative. Wright was sentenced to 15 years in the Florida Department of Corrections followed by 15 years of Drug Offender Probation.
On February 10, 2026, Kimberely Diggins (02/26/83), was adjudicated guilty after pleading no contest in court. Diggins was convicted of Trafficking in Fentanyl 4 grams or more, Possession of Cocaine, Possession or Use of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent. These charges stemmed from a search warrant at her home back in February of 2022.
Upon completion of the search warrant detectives had located nearly 50 grams of Fentanyl. Diggins was sentenced to 15 years in the Florida Department of Corrections followed by 15 years of probation and $100,000 in fines.
