May 4, 2026 – Englewood, FL

A 44-year-old man was arrested for providing a 17-year-old girl with alcoholic beverages, kidnapping, and committing aggravated sexual battery on her.

At about 3:30am on May 3, 2026, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a sexual assault with injuries that recently occurred within the 900 block of South Broadway in Englewood, Florida.

Melchor Hernandez Alcaraz (1/17/1982)

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit investigated the allegation and determined the suspect, Melchor Hernandez Alcaraz (1/17/1982) provided alcoholic beverages to the victim, who is a minor, and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her. Detectives interviewed Alcaraz, and he confessed to these allegations.

“Here we are with yet another individual who couldn’t keep his hands off of a juvenile. I am running out of ways to say how disgusting sex crimes are, especially when there is a child involved. To make it even worse, this individual is in the US illegally… for now, anyway. This should not have happened, and my heart goes out to the young lady and her family.”

Sheriff Bill Prummell

Alcaraz was transported to the Charlotte County Jail and was charged with kidnapping, aggravated sexual battery on a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor by providing her alcohol.

Melchor Hernandez Alcaraz illegally entered the United States of America and was accordingly placed on an ICE detainer.
