May 7, 2026 – Port Charlotte, FL
Two Port Charlotte men were arrested for unrelated sexual crimes involving juveniles yesterday.
On May 6th, 2026, deputies responded to a home on Appian Street in Port Charlotte in reference to a domestic disturbance. While speaking with the victim, she advised the suspect, David John Reyes (5/24/1980), had been engaged in a sexual relationship with her since she was 17 years old. Detectives of the Major Crimes Unit were contacted to assume the investigation into the unlawful sexual relationship with a minor.
Reyes was interviewed at Charlotte County Jail, where he was already in custody for charges relating to the domestic incident. Reyes provided a full confession into the sexual relationship and was subsequently charged with Unlawful Sexual Activity with Certain Minors, a second-degree felony.
It should be noted that David is a registered sexual offender in Charlotte County for Lewd and Lascivious Battery upon a child victim aged 15 years old.
He is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond.
Also on May 6th, Major Crimes detectives arrested 71-year-old Timothy Roy Bush (6/22/1954), who resides in the 2200 block of Aaron Street in Port Charlotte and charged him with three (3) counts of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation on a victim under the age of 12. The report stemmed from a disclosure made by the child victim to authorities in Hillsborough County in March.
The investigation revealed that on several different occasions around January and February 2026, Bush molested the child victim at the residence on Aaron Street within the Charlotte County jurisdiction.
When detectives questioned Bush, he provided a confession to the inappropriate sexual activity. Bush was transported to the Charlotte County Jail on the above charges. He is also being held without bond.
“While I certainly appreciate my team for their work in finding and arresting these predators, it kills me to see so many children being hurt like this. I have made it very clear that this disgusting crime will not be tolerated in Charlotte County, and as long as there are people doing this, we are going to keep making them famous. To the parents in our community, please check in with your little ones. Have the difficult conversations. Believe them if they tell you they don’t feel safe in a certain place. Always report if they share something of this nature. I promise you, we take every report seriously and we will investigate thoroughly.”
