October 26, 2026 – Englewood, FL
A man faces second-degree murder charges after shooting and killing a friend during an argument.
Just before 9:30pm on Sunday, October 25, 2026, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call advising that a man had been shot at 9405 El Campo Avenue in Englewood. Deputies responded to the scene and found the homeowner standing next to another man who was lying unresponsive on the floor of the garage. The homeowner was identified as Frank John Voight (5/29/1958).
With the home cleared of any additional parties, deputies began life saving measures on the victim, who had suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. They continued these efforts until they were relieved by Englewood Fire Department and Charlotte County Fire & EMS personnel. Unfortunately, the victim did not survive. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Major Case Unit was contacted and began an investigation.
Detectives located a handgun laying on a table in the garage. Voight was transported to the District 1 Office for questioning. As detectives questioned Voight, they found that his explanation of the events did not match the evidence of the investigation. Voight was placed under arrest and charged with Second Degree Murder, Not Premeditated. He is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond.
The investigation remains ongoing.
“First and most importantly, my heart goes out to the family and friends of the victim. There are no words to ease the pain of losing someone you love, especially in a manner like this. It is sad to see people unable to resolve their issues peacefully, but taking it to this level is unnecessary and ripples far beyond the parties involved. A life is lost and many others are changed forever. This man can think about his actions and those consequences as he now sits in a cell at the jail.”
