Second Suspect Arrested in Occupied Home Burglary Spree in Englewood

February 27, 2026 – Charlotte County, FL

A second suspect has been arrested on charges related to a string of unoccupied residential burglaries in the Englewood area.

Shyla M. Robinett (6/4/1981)

Dating back to the end of 2025, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating multiple burglaries of unoccupied homes in the Englewood area. As the investigation continued, detectives determined that a suspect, Shyla M. Robinett (6/4/1981), had been in possession of and already sold some of the stolen property using an online auction site. Robinett was arrested on February 19, 2026, on two counts of dealing in stolen property. On February 25, Robinett was arrested again on another count of the same charge.

Detectives continued to investigate, and it was learned that several homes on the Sarasota County side of Englewood were also burglarized, with similarities to the Charlotte County cases. Investigators from both counties worked together and developed another suspect in the burglaries, a man named Mark A. Brown (2/11/1980).

Today, February 27, 2026, Brown was located and arrested in Sarasota County on two active Charlotte County warrants for the burglaries.

“I am glad that the residents of Englewood can be at ease tonight with these suspects now being held accountable for their crimes. As always, I want to thank my detectives for their diligence, and I want to thank our brothers and sisters at Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office for their collaboration. Once again, we have shown that Southwest Florida law enforcement gets it done, every time. While the case remains open, I am excited to share this update with our community.”

Sheriff Bill Prummell

Additional charges could be forthcoming for both Robinett and Brown as detectives continue to investigate.
