Homeless Man Arrested in String of Englewood Burglaries

A homeless man was arrested Monday afternoon on multiple burglary and theft charges, stemming from an investigation that began in the morning after victims began calling in reports to the Sheriff's Office. The successful investigation included assistance from specialty units including aviation and canine, and ended in the arrest of a suspect after an alert citizen took the initiative to immediately say something to law enforcement after observing suspicious behavior in the parking lot of a local store.

Canine Unit Enhances Training with Support from Charlotte Community Foundation

Canines at the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office are learning to use a new piece of equipment - one that can significantly reduce injuries while improving overall mental and physical vitality. The Canine Unit recently purchased a Dog Trotter, best described as a dog powered treadmill, through the Lillian J. Adams Fund for Animal Welfare. The fund, which provides annual support for the CCSO Canine Unit, is administered by the Charlotte Community Foundation.
