A woman was arrested after confessing to the murder of her roommate in Punta Gorda.

On the evening of March 8, 2026, Charlotte County deputies were dispatched to a residence on Gewant Blvd. in reference to a person not breathing. Upon arrival, deputies located a man, identified as Paul De Wayne Bradley (10/30/1949) deceased and beyond help. The Major Crimes Unit responded and began an investigation.

The victim’s vehicle was missing from the driveway, and through investigative measures, detectives discovered that it had been driven to Sarasota County. This information was shared with members of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, who located the vehicle in their jurisdiction. The victim’s roommate, Shannon Rose Giblin (11/25/1977), who was identified as a possible suspect in the death of Bradley, was located with the vehicle and detained.

Shannon R. Giblin (11/25/1977)

“I want to recognize my Major Crimes detectives who worked this case through the night and identified the suspect quickly. They truly show a dedication to their craft and the results are irrefutable. I also want to thank the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office for their quick actions in locating and detaining her based on the intelligence my team was able to share. As I have always said, Southwest Florida is fortunate to have law enforcement who work together so effectively for the people we serve.”

Sheriff Bill Prummell

As Charlotte County detectives questioned Giblin, she provided a confession to stabbing Bradley following an argument. After realizing that the victim was beyond help, Giblin then covered Bradley with a tarp and left the scene in the victim’s pickup truck. She was placed under arrest on charges of Murder (not premeditated) and Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle.

Giblin is being held without bond.
