Search Warrants Served in Robbery Investigation; Suspects Identified and In Custody

On February 25, at approximately 2:00 AM, an armed robbery occurred outside of the Paddy Wagon Irish Pub, 2681 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte.

As the victim exited the Paddy Wagon, a black male, later positively identified as Khalil Ali Bynum (08/07/95), grabbed the victims 26 inch, 14 carat yellow gold necklace from his neck and ran towards a four door black Hyundai Sonata. Attached to the necklace was a Ying & Yang 14 carat yellow gold pendant, encrusted with 9 carats of diamonds. The value of the necklace and pendant is approximately $10,000.

The victim chased Bynum in an attempt to retrieve the necklace. Bynum was joined during the chase by another black male, later identified as Deandra’ Nytrel Williams (11/27/94). When Bynum and Williams realized the victim was chasing them, Bynum told Williams to shoot the victim. Williams stopped, pulled an black semi-automatic handgun from the front of his waistband and pointed the gun at the victim. The victim stopped momentarily as Bynum and Williams continued to run towards the Hyundai.

As Williams, who was now carrying the necklace, entered the rear of the Hyundai he dropped the necklace on the ground. The victim attempted to grab the necklace from the ground, but Williams reached out and was able to pick up the necklace. The victim, who hand his phone in his hand attempting to take a picture of the vehicle’s license plate, reached into the vehicle in a last ditch effort to grab his necklace. Williams slammed the door on the victim’s arm, causing his phone to fall into the vehicle as it sped off.

Using the victim’s Find My Phone app, the phone was showing at a residence at 8049 Coco Solo Avenue in North Port. Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes detectives, after obtaining statements and surveillance video from the Paddy Wagon, obtained arrest warrants for Bynum and Williams. In addition, detectives, working with detectives from the North Port Police Department, obtained a search warrant for the residence at 8049 Coco Solo Avenue. A second search warrant was obtained for Williams’ residence, 22111 Felton Avenue in Port Charlotte.

On 02/26/18, the North Port Police Departments Special Response Team, along with members of the Sarasota Police Departments SWAT team, and Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes detectives executed the search warrant at the Coco Solo Avenue address. Evidence possibly related to the armed robbery and theft of the necklace and pendant was located and seized. At the conclusion of the Coco Solo Avenue search warrant, members of both the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and Sarasota Police Department’s SWAT teams, with assistance from the Traffic Unit, Community Policing Officer, K-9, Narcotics and Major Crimes detectives executed the search warrant at the Felton Avenue address in Port Charlotte. Bynum and Williams were not located at either address.

Khalil Ali Bynum (08/07/95) and Deandra’ Nytrel Williams (11/27/94) are wanted for Robbery with a Firearm and Grand Theft. Both subjects should be considered armed and dangerous.

UPDATES:

March 7th – Khalil Bynum was located and arrested by the US Marshal Task Force in Orange County, FL. Deandra’ Nytrel Williams (11/27/94) is still at large and WANTED.

March 15 – Deandra’ Williams turned himself in to authorities this morning. He is now in custody on charges of Robbery with a Firearm and Grand Theft.
