Death Investigation on Gardner Drive Ruled a Murder-Suicide

A death investigation that began on the evening of September 20th has been ruled a murder-suicide, following an examination of the evidence on scene and autopsy reports from the Medical Examiner.

Deputies responded that evening to 4166 Gardner Drive, the residence of Randy Lewis (1/2/58), after receiving a request for a welfare check on Emily Turner (7/27/75). The caller was concerned that Turner had gone to Lewis’s house earlier in the evening and no one was able to reach her.

Deputies observed Turner’s vehicle in the driveway of the residence when they arrived. Receiving no answer at the door, they walked around the residence. The deputies looked in the windows of the home, observing both Turner and Lewis deceased in a bedroom. The deputies forced entry into the home to determine no life saving measures could be taken. At that time the Major Crimes Unit (MCU) responded, along with Crime Scene for processing.

After an examination of the evidence at the scene, as well as the ruling from the Medical Examiner, it was determined by MCU investigators that Randy Lewis shot Emily Turner with a firearm before also shooting himself shortly after. We appreciate the patience of the community as we ensured that the families of the deceased were notified prior to releasing this information.
