A Punta Gorda woman is in custody this morning on multiple drug charges after accepting packages containing illegal drugs. Rosa Haydee Santiago Bonilla (DOB 1/27/77) was arrested on Tuesday after she accepted two packages shipped on different dates that contained methamphetamine, marijuana, and cannabis in edible and dab forms.
CCSO Narcotics Detective Forbus and his partner, K9 Ladybird, intercepted the first package on April 24th at a shipping facility. The package was labeled to be shipped to an address in Punta Gorda, Florida. K9 Ladybird, a certified drug detector canine, alerted to the odor of illegal drugs coming from the package. The package was secured at the shipping facility pending further investigation into the recipient who was later determined to be Bonilla (using the alias Heidi Colon). On April 25th, Bonilla requested re-delivery of the package through the company.
On April 30th, a second package addressed to Heidi Colon (alias used by Bonilla) arrived at the shipping facility. K9 Ladybird was utilized to determine that the odor of illegal drugs was also coming from the second package. At that time, delivery of both packages was attempted to Bonilla.
Rosa Bonilla identified herself to the delivery person as Heidi Colon and accepted both packages. She was detained by detectives with the CCSO Narcotics Unit at that time.
The packages were found to contain 85.5 grams of methamphetamine, 151.11 grams of marijuana, 3 grams of marijuana joints, 14 grams of edible cannabis and 27.6 grams of THC dab (shatter).
The investigation determined that Bonilla receives these packages from various sources and then distributes them to other locations. Bonilla was placed under arrest and charged with Trafficking Amphetamines, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell (2 counts), and Conspiracy to Traffic Narcotics.
