On Friday, May 3rd, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office hosted a self-defense class for teens. The class is taught by Training Sergeant and Wolf Pack Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black belt Brent Hertenlehner.
The techniques taught in this class are designed with the purpose of defending against a larger and stronger opponent, giving young ladies the knowledge and skill set to fight back in situations in which they may defenseless.
This class is eye-opening and physical, leaving the participants feeling confident and powerful.
When participants were asked about their favorite part of the class, some responses were:
” making it feel that I can and have the confidence to do it.”
“Feeling powerful and in control.”
” The thoroughness of the moves and the encouragement.”
As we continue to offer this first-of-its-kind class to our community, we hope to deliver confidence, skill, and knowledge to the participants so they can feel safe and are more aware of their surroundings.
