Detectives with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested two Lee County residents yesterday on multiple drug and weapons charges. Alicia Swartz (DOB 9/12/85) and JD Irons (12/5/87) were tracked to the Knights Inn on Jones Loop Road by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office due to Irons having outstanding warrants in their jurisdiction. On May 28th, the CCSO Narcotics Unit assisted in the apprehension of the couple at the Punta Gorda hotel.
Upon entering the room to search for Irons, detectives observed handguns and drugs inside the room. Swartz and Irons were the only occupants of the room and both were taken into custody while a search warrant was obtained. Detectives confirmed through dispatch that both suspects are convicted felons.
Two handguns were located during a search of the room; a black SCCY CPX-2 and a black Glock 27. The Glock was determined to be stolen out of Lee County after a check of the serial numbers on both weapons. Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Heroin, Fentanyl and a Naloxone patch were located inside the room as well as baggies and a small scale. The Fentanyl was packaged for sale in 12 separate small baggies.
Alicia Swartz and JD Irons were charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Theft of a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Heroin), Possession of a Controlled Substance (MDMA), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Buprenorphine/Naloxone) and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell (Fentanyl).
Both suspects are currently in custody at the Charlotte County Jail.
