On 8-21-2019 at 0307 am., Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to Walmart, 2931 South McCall Road, Englewood, on a report of a male subject who was just stabbed while outside of that business. Upon arrival, it was determined that a male subject sustained a single stab puncture wound to the abdomen and was transported to a local medical facility for treatment of a non-life threatening puncture wound injury.
The suspect, who was known to the victim, was identified as being Dustin Lee Saylor, dob 10-31-1989, LKA 9806 Gulfstrean Blvd., Englewood, FL. Saylor had fled the scene prior to the initial arrival of deputies. The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit was contacted and assumed the case.

Through the investigation it was determined that the victim accused Saylor of stealing his wallet shortly before the confrontation. Because of the accusation, a physical altercation ensued, resulting in the victim being stabbed.
Saylor was subsequently located and arrested by Road Patrol Deputies several hours later in the area of San Casa Dr., Englewood. Saylor was charged with Aggravated Battery Using a Deadly Weapon and transported to the Charlotte County Jail, processed and held for a First Appearance hearing.
Sheriff Bill Prummell stated, “There is no room for violence in any form or fashion in this county. We will continue to track down and arrest violators who commit violent acts. We will also continue to strive and make Charlotte County a safe place to be for our residents and visitors.”
