Each school year Operation School Zone Safety is run by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Unit. Due to its growing success Operation Winter Wonder Wheels was born. The goal of this operation is to recognize the students of Charlotte County Schools who are continuing to practice safe travels to and from school.
Operation Winter Wonder Wheels will run from December 3- 17, 2020. Each School Resource Officer will be on the lookout as students are coming and going from school and traveling in the schools zones. The students will be rewarded with a raffle ticket when they are observed properly wearing bicycle helmets, crossing safely in the designated crosswalks operating their vehicles in the school zones or demonstrating any other model behavior that the School Resource Officer feels it is necessary to recognize. This operation will act as a reminder and re-education opportunity for the SRO to assure safety within the school zones and around their designated school. The SRO’s will also issue raffle tickets to other students who are observed doing the right thing throughout the school day.
On December 18th there will be a drawing for the prizes to include bicycles, scooters, and gift cards.
