The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, as well as local school officials, state, and national law enforcement, are aware of the nationwide trend of school violence threats on social media. To this end, we will have increased presence and attention for all schools in our county.
We urge parents and guardians to discuss the seriousness of these types of posts and comments, as well as to inform students that we take all threats to our schools (real or in jest) very seriously.
Please remind them to let us know of any actual concerns so they may be thoroughly investigated.
