The goal of this enforcement is to curb the illegal sale of alcohol products to minors, and encourage proper checks of identification. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work constructively with retail establishments where violations occur to ensure that employees are educated regarding Florida law. Sheriff Bill Prummell urges all individuals to report the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to law enforcement.
“My deputies do these checks periodically to make sure that the law is followed and to protect our kids. It is critical that businesses in Charlotte County do their part by checking identification every time. If members of the community observe a business selling to a minor, we ask that they let us know so we can make sure it is addressed appropriately.”– Sheriff Bill Prummell
