Detectives determine the Sunday morning shooting incident on Laramore Avenue to be an accidental discharge of a firearm by a juvenile. The identity of the 21-year-old victim, who is expected to survive, will not be released due to Marsy’s Law.
“When handling a firearm, you must use extreme caution and always utilize gun safety protocols. I’m hopeful the individual will make a full recovery, shares Sheriff Bill Prummell.
The investigation is ongoing.

Port Charlotte, FL- June 19, 2022
Deputies were dispatched to a shooting that occurred within the 22000 block of Laramore Avenue in Port Charlotte just before 9:30 Father’s Day morning. Our Major Crimes unit has responded and will be taking over the investigation.
There is no danger to the public as this is an isolated incident. However, Laramore Avenue has been blocked off due to the investigation. The public can expect an increase in law enforcement within the area throughout the day.
All parties are accounted for.
