Charlotte High School Threat Investigated, Unfounded

Punta Gorda, FL – August 19, 2022

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office was contacted yesterday evening to assist with the investigation into a threat that was made by a student that attends Charlotte High School in Punta Gorda. Quickly after, CCSO detectives made contact with the student and his family at their Punta Gorda home. The threat was investigated thoroughly and was determined to be unfounded. No threat was made regarding specific students or even identifying a specific school.

The Punta Gorda Police Department is the lead agency on this investigation with support from CCSO.

“The safety and security of our students will always be our first priority. As parents ourselves, we know the fear these situations create and I want to assure you that my staff investigates them extensively and expeditiously,” states Sheriff Bill Prummell.
