Charlotte County, FL – November 1, 2022
On behalf of myself and the entire Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, I want to thank all of the members of our community who attended Cops and Goblins last night. It always brings me joy to see the children in their costumes having a good time, and I am especially appreciative of the positivity I saw among all of the parents.
I asked my Community Affairs team to make this event happen in spite of the aftereffects of Hurricane Ian because I believe we all needed a little something to take our minds off of the hardships our county is facing. It appeared to me that it worked, based on the interactions I had with parents and kids alike. The event served as a nice reminder to everyone just how amazing and resilient Charlotte County is.
There is a lot that goes into the planning and execution of this event, and I would be remiss if I didn’t recognize our community partners, sponsors, and donors. What you may not know is that we collected more than one ton of candy to give out last night, much of which came from the generosity of deputies in each of our district offices. We also received donations of pretzels, Play-Doh, donuts, and whipped cream to add to the fun.
Once again, I thank you for coming out to celebrate with us. Next year, we plan to host this event at the Port Charlotte Town Center Mall. I hope to see you all there on Halloween night, 2023.
Stay safe, stay strong, and never quit!
