Independence Day Office Closures

July 3, 2024 – Charlotte County Sheriff’s District Offices

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Administrative and District Offices will be closed Thursday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day. The offices will reopen on Friday, July 5, for regularly scheduled hours.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone to enjoy the holiday safely. If you are drinking alcohol, that means choosing a designated driver, staying where you are celebrating, or arranging another form of safe transportation. Please use caution if using fireworks, which are only legal on July 4, December 31, and January 1. If your celebrations include alcoholic beverages, you can also utilize the AAA Tow to Go Service. This program provides a safe ride from 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 3rd to 6 a.m. Monday, July 8th for anyone who is impaired by drugs or alcohol. Call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO or (855) 286-9246 and a tow truck driver will take you to a safe location within a 10-mile radius.

I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Independence Day and remind you to please enjoy your holiday celebrations responsibly. There are no excuses for impaired driving, so take the steps today to arrange a safe and sober ride home tomorrow.
