Extending victim communication throughout the criminal justice process with VINE® and Versaterm CommunityConnectTM
Charlotte County, FL – July 23, 2026 – The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) today announced the launch of an enhanced victim notification system that updates victims throughout the criminal justice process. Powered by VINE® and Versaterm CommunityConnectTM, the integrated system enables automated notifications from the initial 9-1-1 call through judicial proceedings, incarceration, protective orders and parole/release.
CCSO demonstrates its commitment to supporting crime victims with additional communication after an incident. The End-to-End solution provides more timely, consistent updates to these community members and promotes safety, awareness, and a sense of support throughout the criminal justice journey.
When a crime victim in Charlotte County calls 9-1-1, their phone number is automatically entered into the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system. The individual will then receive timely notifications in addition to regular agency communications throughout the investigation process. When they register with VINE, the updates will continue through the offender’s incarceration, parole or release if applicable.
Together, these solutions provide near real-time notifications for those impacted throughout the criminal justice process, bridging the gap in notifications between the initial incident of a crime and the post-arrest judicial process in Charlotte County and helping to provide peace of mind for victims.
“Bringing this platform to Charlotte County is just one more way we can help our community navigate a system that can sometimes feel complicated or overwhelming. I am excited to offer this new program designed to simplify the process and keep you informed when you have a personal stake in the case. It does matter, and I am glad we have found a way to share updates that you need to know as the case moves through the justice system.”
