Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Scheduled for CALEA Assessment

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.

Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation will encompass both the Law Enforcement and the Communications division of the office. The program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

Agency employees and the public are invited to offer comments by calling 941-833-1878 on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Comments will be taken by the Assessment Team.

Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. For more information, please the Professional Compliance Section at 941-575-5340.

A public hearing regarding the Law Enforcement Accreditation will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 5:00 PM at the Charlotte County Jail Training Center, located at 26601 Airport Road, Punta Gorda. Those wishing to address the assessors will be limited to 5 minutes and must address standard related issues.
