Suspect in Custody for Attempted Carjacking

Shortly before 11:00 am this morning, Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Walmart, 19100 Murdock Circle, Port Charlotte, for a disturbance. Upon arrival, it was determined that a white male approached a female who was sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot and demanded that she exit her vehicle. A minor scuffle ensued and the male subsequently fled on foot. During that confrontation, the male displayed a handgun.

A possible suspect was located a short time later and is currently be held for questioning pending further investigation by detectives with the Major Crimes Unit. This incident is contained and there is no danger to the public at this time.

The investigation is ongoing and any additional information will be forwarded as it becomes available.

The suspect, identified as Timmy Hill (3/24/61), has been arrested on charges of Carjacking with a Firearm, Kidnapping a Person to Inflict Bodily Harm or Terrorize, Tampering in Felony 1st Degree Proceeding, and Battery. His booking photo is pending at http://www.ccso.org.
