The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit served a search warrant this morning at 7430 Watson Lane in Port Charlotte. The search warrant was the result of an investigation into the residence spanning several months.
While serving the warrant, deputies made contact at the door of the residence with Beatrice Chambliss (03/02/68). Michael Miller (5/19/68) was located in a closet, and Gene Cazeau (5/2/95) was located on a futon in another bedroom. After they were read their Miranda warnings, all three declined to speak to detectives. All three subjects were charged with multiple drug offenses (listed below).

During a search of the residence, a safe was located in the same closet as Michael Miller. Miller provided the correct combination to the safe. Inside the safe, detectives located an orange pill bottle containing 2.3 grams of marijuana, a plastic bag containing another 2.5 grams of marijuana, and 5 small plastic bags of cocaine, each weighing between 1.4 and 2.0 grams. A coin purse that was in the safe also contained two bags of methamphetamine (1.7 grams and .3 grams), and two bags of cocaine (1.8 grams and 1.6 grams). Several smoking devices with residue and two digital scales were observed on shelves in the closet.

A firearm was located in a separate closet within the residence. In the bedroom attached to that closet an orange pill bottle was located, containing a pill identified as Buprenorphine Hydrochloride, a controlled substance that requires a prescription.

In the bedroom where Gene Cazeau was located, 4 bags of heroin (4.1 grams total) were located in the futon armrest where he was laying. An additional 34 empty bags were also in the armrest, along with 2.7 grams of marijuana. A nightstand was next to the futon, on which a cell phone determined to belong to Cazeau was located. Next to the phone was a plastic bag containing also containing heroin.
Michael C. Miller was placed under arrest for:
- Possession of a controlled substance without a prescription (methamphetamine).
- Possession of a controlled Substance (cocaine).
- Possession of marijuana less than 20 grams.
- Possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Maintaining a public nuisance house.
Gene Cazeau was placed under arrest for:
- Trafficking heroin
- Possession with intent to sell heroin
- Possession of marijuana less than 20 grams
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Beatrice Chambliss was placed under arrest for:
- Possession of controlled substance without
prescription (Buprenorphine Hydrochloride Sublingual 8 mg.)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia.
