Juvenile Unit Conducts Compliance Checks for Tobacco Sales

Members of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Unit teamed up on September 28th for an enforcement sweep targeting the sale of tobacco, nicotine products, and nicotine dispensing devices to minors. The operation included compliance checks on seven (7) commercial establishments licensed to sell tobacco products throughout Charlotte County.

One establishment was found in non-compliance for selling to a minor:
City Vapor & E-Cig II, 2828 S. McCall Rd #103 (Clerk issued an APAD referral).

Commercial establishments checked that DID NOT sell tobacco or other nicotine products to a minor:

Vape Wild:  2485 S. McCall Road, Englewood
Volcano Z Vape Lounge:  1720 S. McCall Road, Englewood
Fine Tobacco:  2150 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte
The King of Vape:  23951 Peachland Blvd. Unit 1
USA Grocery:  2390 Duncan Road, Punta Gorda
Tom’s Discount:  618 Cooper Street, Punta Gorda

The goal of this enforcement is to curb the illegal sale tobacco and nicotine products to minors, and encourage proper checks of identification. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work constructively with retail establishments where violations occur to ensure that employees are educated regarding Florida law. Sheriff Bill Prummell urges all individuals to report the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to law enforcement.
