Members of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Unit teamed up on November 17th for an enforcement sweep targeting the sale of tobacco, nicotine products, and nicotine dispensing devices to minors. The operation included compliance checks on 18 commercial establishments licensed to sell tobacco products throughout Charlotte County.
One establishment was found in non-compliance for selling to a minor:
Dollar General, 4265 Tamiami Trail (Clerk issued an APAD referral).

The goal of this enforcement is to curb the illegal sale tobacco and nicotine products to minors, and encourage proper checks of identification. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work constructively with retail establishments where violations occur to ensure that employees are educated regarding Florida law. Sheriff Bill Prummell urges all individuals to report the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to law enforcement.
