UPDATE: National Guard to Begin Virus Testing in Nursing Homes

UPDATE (April 20, 2020) Florida National Guard units deployed for testing at long-term care facilities in Charlotte County beginning Monday were reassigned to another community. No timeline for their arrival in Charlotte County has been provided. The Department of Health will continue to perform testing and provide supplies and support for the facilities.

National Guard to Begin Virus Testing in Nursing Homes

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (April 19, 2020) — Florida National Guard units will begin testing at long-term care facilities in Charlotte County beginning Monday, April 20, 2020. Governor Ron DeSantis has deployed National Guard units to expand testing capabilities in facilities around the state.

The Charlotte County Office of Emergency Management and the Florida Department of Health will coordinate with National Guard units to identify facilities where testing will be done.

  1. Did they not show up this morning?/ everyone waiting with no notice they were sent elsewhere.

    1. The community was notified yesterday that the National Guard was directed to another location.

  2. So where is this “other location?” And WHEN will they actually appear here?… or is this just BS?

    1. This is undetermined. There was an article in the paper regarding Charlotte county Commissioners and the national guard. They were directed elsewhere.
