From the desk of Sheriff Bill Prummell-
Faith and Blue is a national organization that strives to bring communities together, forming local partnerships through the connections of faith-based organizations and law enforcement agencies. To facilitate this, agencies across the country are coordinating with their local churches to put on events that bring their people together in a sort of fellowship celebration.
At least, that was the plan. COVID has once again reared its ugly head and forced the cancelation of many of these events. And while our community will not be able to gather either, the CCSO believes that that this is still a great opportunity to demonstrate the unity of Charlotte County.
With that in mind, I am happy to announce that we will be partnering with Community Life Church, New Day Christian Church, and the Homeless Coalition for our first foray into the Faith and Blue Weekend, which is October 8-11. We will have a Drug Take-Back Day, where anyone can turn in their unneeded or unwanted prescription pills to have them destroyed. There is no charge for this service, and it is also available year-round at my district offices.
Additionally, we will be collecting food and personal hygiene items to be given to the Homeless Coalition to support those in need. I encourage you to participate by donating just one item, as this is a great way for our community to show just how united we are and how we support one another even when we can’t physically be together.
