(Charlotte County) – The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled for a virtual assessment November 15, 2021, through November 17, 2021, as part of a program to continue accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation will encompass both the Law Enforcement and the Communications division of the office. The program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
Agency employees and the public are invited to offer comments during a Public Call-In Session by calling (941) 575-5340 on November 15, 2021, between the hours of 2:15pm – 4:15pm. Telephone comments will be taken by the Assessment Team and are limited to 5 minutes. Comments must address the agency’s ability to comply with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. In addition, a Public Hearing will be held on November 16, 2021, at 5:00pm. The hearing will be held virtually via Microsoft TEAMS™ which may be accessed through cell phone or computer browser. A link will be available on our agency website where participants will be connected to the hearing by visiting: www.ccso.org. Those wishing to address the assessors will be limited to 5 minutes and must address standard related issues. Please note, the hearing will be recorded. Participants will also have the option of turning on Live Captions through their settings.
