UPDATE: The decedent has been identified as 73-year-old Roger Harold Nehring 7-11-50. Next of kin has been notified. The cause of death will be determined pending autopsy results.

Charlotte County, FL – July 18, 2023
A body was discovered floating in the Charlotte Harbor at the base of the bridge on the Port Charlotte side. The notification of the incident came from a community member who was traveling in the area and made the call at 1:54 pm.
The identity and official cause of death of the deceased individual is currently unknown, as is the duration of time spent in the water. However, the victim does appear to be a white male.
