Corinne Ave. Shooting Update

Port Charlotte, FL – July 19, 2023

One man is in custody following a lengthy investigation by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the State Attorney’s Office, in which another male was shot and killed on July 5, 2023.

At approximately 1:15pm on Wednesday, July 5, Charlotte County deputies responded to a disturbance on Corinne Ave. in Port Charlotte where a single gunshot was discharged, striking a male. This incident was the culmination of an ongoing dispute between neighbors. The injured male did not survive.

The shooter, identified as James Andrew Gainvors (01/19/1987), was cooperative with deputies throughout the lengthy investigation.

On July 19, 2023, an arrest warrant for 2nd degree murder was issued and James Andrew Gainvors was taken into custody without incident. He is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond.
